What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a regulated healthcare profession focused on the diagnosis, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions, particularly those affecting the spine, joints and nervous system.

Chiropractors use a combination of hands-on therapy, rehabilitation exercises and education to help reduce pain, improve movement and support long-term health and wellbeing.

Consultation: Assessment & Treatment

Your first appointment is a comprehensive 60-minute consultation designed to understand your concerns and create a personalised plan of care.

The session will include:

  • A detailed discussion about your symptoms and medical history

  • A thorough physical examination

  • A clear explanation of our findings

  • Treatment and rehabilitation advice where appropriate

The most important part of your first visit is ensuring that you leave with a clear understanding of what is causing your symptoms and whether chiropractic care is likely to help.

Common conditions that patients seek care for include:

  • Low back pain

  • Neck pain

  • Headaches

  • Sports injuries

  • Shoulder pain

  • General stress and tension

  • Foot pain

  • General aches and joint stiffness

As a primary healthcare practitioner, you do not need a referral from your GP to book an appointment. If further investigations, such as imaging, or an onward referral to another healthcare professional are required, these options can be discussed during your consultation.

At the end of your assessment, we will discuss our findings and provide recommendations for your care, including the expected number of follow-up sessions. Most patients typically require between 3 and 6 treatments for their presenting complaint.

Treatment

Standard treatment appointments are 30 minutes long, allowing sufficient time for a holistic, evidence-informed approach tailored to your individual needs.

Treatment may include a combination of:

  • Chiropractic adjustments (joint manipulation)

  • Joint mobilisation techniques

  • Soft tissue therapy

  • Assisted stretching

  • Dry needling (that is also known as medical acupuncture)

  • Instrument Assisted Myofascial Release (IASTM)

  • Rehabilitation exercises inspired by physiotherapy, Pilates and yoga principles

  • Cupping

  • Breathing and relaxation exercises

Some patients attend with a specific condition and follow a structured treatment plan, while others choose periodic maintenance appointments every 1–3 months to help maintain mobility, manage recurring symptoms and support their overall wellbeing. Others prefer to book appointments on an as-needed basis whenever the occasional ache or niggle arises.

Please note that all new patients booking online must select an Initial Assessment appointment before treatment can commence. This is a legal and professional requirement and ensures that care is both safe and appropriate for your individual circumstances.

If you’re unsure whether chiropractic care is right for you, please get in touch and I’d be happy to discuss your concerns before booking.
